The new 10,850 square
foot Fresno California Temple is located adjacent to the Fresno California West Stake
Center near the intersection of Valentine and Sierra avenues. The temple is faced
with sierra white granite quarried in Raymond, California. The temple was officially
announced January 8, 1999; groundbreaking ceremony was held March 20, 1999; open house
March 25-March 31, April 3-4, 2000, with some 51,000 people attending; and the building
was dedicated in four sessions by President Gordon B. Hinckley on Sunday, April 9, 2000.
The temple district includes approximately 28,000 members from eight stakes
including the Fresno, Fresno North, Fresno East, Fresno West, Hanford, Visalia, and
Porterville stakes, and the California Fresno Mission.
